Meet our Summer Volunteers!
This summer, we have been lucky enough to get six new lab members, many of which are coming from other schools and areas to research with our lab. While they are not all permanent lab members, the mark that they will leave on our lab will be, so we wanted to introduce them!
Maya Escobosa (Any)
Maya is an undergraduate biology and philosophy student at Wellesley College. She was born and raised in San Francisco and is passionate about ecology and environmental conservation. In her free time, Maya practices film photography and ceramics.
Evan Fewell (He/Him)
Evan uses pronouns and is a third-year student at Tuskegee University, located in Gainesville, Florida. His interests include rollerskating and photography.
Charlie Rhymes (She/Her)
Charlie is a 4th year psychology student finishing her undergrad. She hopes to pursue a masters in social work and is currently working and interested in harm reduction services in the Bay Area. She enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and foraging and plays saxophone for the Cal Marching Band!
Anthony Paez (He/They)
Anthony is a UC Berkeley student graduating in 2028. He likes praying mantises, playing the bass, and NBA highlight edits on tik-toks!
Maxine Zigmond-Ramm (She/Her)
Maxine just started at the Elias Lab after deciding to go back to school to get a post bachelors degree, she loves her dogs and cats! She loves making jewelry and doing arts and crafts, and her favorite food is peanut butter!
Natalia Kalas (She/Her)
Natalia is a rising sophomore at UCSC. She really enjoys combat sports like wrestling and Jujitsu. She grew up in the Bay Area, and she is also a really big fan of Wild Kratts and Minecraft!
